Moveable Self-Portrait Art Project

Needed for Each Child: Two sheets white construction paper, crayons, three brads, Bible verse strip ("Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others" - 1 Peter 4:10a).

Activity: Children draw and color a self portrait (body, two arms, and one head). Attach the pieces with brads to make the portrait moveable. Children draw pictures of two talents they have and glue to each hand. The bible verse strip is then glued on.

Chalk Picture Art Activity

Preparation: Soak pieces of colored chalk in a mixture of ¼ cup sugar and 1 cup of water for 10 minutes. The sugar water makes the colors vibrant and keeps the chalk from smudging.

Needed for Each Child: Colored chalk and one sheet of black construction paper.

Activity: Children draw a picture, such as ways they can help at home.

This is a fun song by Mary Rice Hopkins to help kids understand what skin is for!

Collage Creations

Give the children a box of miscellaneous items (straws, material, yarn, Easter grass, rick-rack, etc., etc.) and then let design their own collage creations. The one pictured is by a 4-year-old who made people at a campfire site.

Spring Butterfly Art Project

Provide butterflies for the children and an assortment of paint.

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE art project. For younger children, provide a sketch of the Golden Gate Bridge. They glue on toothpicks and color.

Rain Forest Snake

Allow children to choose what color construction paper they desire. Trim to oval size and gently draw lines to form a snake. Allow children to follow the lines to cut out their snake and then decorate it.

Snake Craft Idea

Children can cut out the shape of a snake and then decorate with foam shapes.
